On the occasion of the International Museum Day, Chairman of the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum Trust, His Highness Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh inaugurated the Cultural Heritage Training Camp at the City Palace. The camp is being organised by Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum Trust in association with ‘Rangreet Art School’ and ‘Saraswati Kala Kendra’. On this occasion, he said that the objective of the camp is to introduce the young generation to arts and crafts of our rich culture. This camp will prove to be an opportunity for the youth to acquire knowledge and skills of traditional heritage arts and crafts.
Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh further said: “It is our endeavour to make this one month camp a course of six months or one year.” Highlighting the commitment of the Royal Family of Jaipur to promote the art and culture of the city, he said that the camp is being organised for the past 26 years.
The camp commenced with lighting of traditional lamp by Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh along with chanting of Vedic mantras. He welcomed all the trainers with garlands. He also distributed plants and ‘parindas’ to connect the children with the environment. Executive Trustee, MSMS II Museum, Ms Rama Dutt was also present on the occasion.
In the camp, students will also be introduced to Vedic astrology for the first time. Along with this, they will also be taken on a tour of Jantar Mantar, where Mr Daulat Singh will give detailed information to the students about the history of Jantar Mantar and the facts related to it.
This training camp is being coordinated by Mr Ramu Ramdev who will also be conducting the ‘Traditional Painting’ workshop along with Mr Babulal Marotia. Dr Madhu Bhatt Tailang will be conducting the ‘Dhrupad’ workshop; Dr Nathulal Verma, the ‘Araish’ (Fresco) course; Mr Brij Mohan Khatri will be teaching Vedic Astrology; Dr Jyoti Bharti Goswami will conduct the Kathak and Folk Dance workshop; Mr R.D. Gaur will teach students the Flute; Mr Lakshmi Narayan Kumawat will conduct ‘Mandana’ workshop and Mr Ashok will teach calligraphy.
