The grand finale of the second season of the biggest global singing competition for doctors – ‘Voice of Doctors’ was organised on Sunday at JECC in Sitapura. Doctors from India and abroad who participated in this competition mesmerised the audience with their voices and rhythm. Everyone was surprised to see the hands that treat patients holding the mic. The doctors performed renditions of Bollywood songs. The audience were seen enjoying their performance as well dancing to their songs. Bollywood’s well-known playback singers Amit Kumar, Padma Shri Kavita Krishnamurthy and Kunal Ganjawala closely observed the doctors’ voices. The grand finale began with the lamp lighting ceremony. Padma Bhushan Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Senior BJP leader, Rajendra Rathore, Ajay Pal Singh, Deputy Mayor from Municipal Corporation Greater, Puneet Karnawat , MD and Co-Chairperson of Eternal Hospital Manju Sharma, Vice Chairperson of JECRC University Amit Agarwal, Rajendra Mohnot from Wonder Cement, Feroz from JSW, Nilesh Badia from World Space, GM of Novotel Jaipur Convention Centre, Manuj Rehlaan, Chairman of the organising committee of ‘Voice of Doctors’, Dr. Jitendra S Makkar and Secretary, Dr. Saurabh Jain were present on the occasion.
In the programme, playback singers Amit Kumar, Padma Shri Kavita Krishnamurthy and Kunal Ganjawala also enthralled the audience by giving special performances. Padma Shri Kavita Krishnamurthy began the programme by paying tribute to the victim of Bengal case ‘Abhaya’ by presenting the song ‘Main itni buri to na thi maa’. The lyrics of this song have been written by Dr Navtej Sharma of Kanpur. It is worth mentioning that Dr Navtej is also a former student of RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata. This performance brought tears to the eyes of the audience. Later, she gave a solo performance of ‘Hawa Hawai’ and ‘Nimbuda Nimbuda’ along with other melodious songs. Along with this, Kavita mesmerised the audience by singing ‘Kora Kagaz’ with Amit Kumar and ‘Ghum Hain Kisi Ke Pyar Mein’ with Dr Jitendra S Makkar. Amit Kumar along with Dr Navtej presented the song ‘Ek Main Aur Ek Tu’. After this, Kunal Ganjawala made the atmosphere more pleasant by singing ‘Bheege Honth Tere’ and other famous songs in his unique style. Dr Hemant Thakral (UK), winner of the above 55 years category of the first edition of the competition, also performed at the programme. He got a lot of applause from the audience by singing the song ‘Chalo Ek Baar Phir Se’.
The doctors who reached the grand finale put the judges in a dilemma with their powerful performances. It is worth mentioning that this competition was organised in three age groups – under 40, 40-55 years and above 55 years. Along with doctors from India, 28 doctors from other countries also participated in it. To reach the grand finale, the doctors had to go through many rounds and tough competition. Among the doctors who performed in it, Dr. Reena Chaudhary (Jo Bheji Thi Dua), Dr. Priya P Nair (Silsila Ye Chahat Ka), Dr. Manish Kalla (Teeja Tera Rang Tha), Dr. Nishikant Lokhadhe (Tadap Tadap Ke), Namrata Joshi (Aye Meherbaan), Dr. Anshu Maharshi (Kaisi Paheli), Dr. Jagdish (Nazar Na Lag Jaye) and other doctors gave captivating performances on various Bollywood songs.
