LITERARY SESSION EXPLORES POETRY, REFLECTIONS AND CULTURE

Jaipur : A literary session titled “Desert Road: Writing Between Culture and Becoming” was held at The Palace Atelier of City Palace, where an engaging discussion took place on the poetry book “Desert Road” by Jaipur-based artist and writer Kanupriya Rathore. The event witnessed the presence of Princess Gauravi Kumari and several eminent personalities along with art and literature enthusiasts from the city. During the discussion with Jaipur based publicist and writer Tusharika Singh, Kanupriya shed light on various aspects of her book “Desert Road” and shared insights from her writing journey. She spoke about how diverse experiences, memories and emotions shaped her poetry. She also elaborated on her inspirations, creative process and the ideas behind her poems. As part of the session, Kanupriya recited selected poems from her book, leaving the audience deeply moved.
Speaking about the book, Kanupriya shared that the poems reflect a woman’s life — her memories, solitude, relationships and the essence of sisterhood. Through these poems, she attempts to interpret the experiences of womanhood in a contemporary context. The collection beautifully portrays fragile fantasies, painful trusts, powerful abandonments and gilded memories. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A round, where the audience participated enthusiastically. It is to be noted, “Desert Road” is Kanupriya’s debut poetry collection. Prior to this, her work has been featured in several reputed publications, including ActiveMuse Literary Journal, Wingword Poetry Anthology and Tilt Magazine.
