Jaipur,: The inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed ‘Nirmal Kumar Karpurchand Patni Auditorium’ was held at ‘Bhattarak Ji Ki Nasiya’ in Jaipur. It has been refurbished with renewed aesthetics and facilities. The event was hosted by the daughters of Shri Nirmal Kumar Patni Rashmi Patni, Sadhana Jain and Neelima Sharma. Despite being unwell, Shri Nirmal Kumar Patni was also present at the occasion. A renowned mining businessman, Shri Nirmal Kumar Patni is set to enter his 100th year. The ceremony was organised in memory of Late Shri Karpurchand Patni and in honour of Shri Nirmal Kumar Patni. The event witnessed the presence of several distinguished members of the community, along with a large gathering of attendees. It may be recalled that last year, the ‘Indralok’ complex suffered extensive damage due to a fire caused by a short circuit. Despite these adverse circumstances, the institution resolved to rebuild, and through collective efforts, the construction of this new auditorium was successfully completed.
Late Shri Karpurchand Patni was a man of multifaceted personality. He was a freedom fighter, a committed Khadi activist, social reformer, educationist and a journalist. He introduced pure hand spun khadi in Jaipur, even opening the first ever Khadi Bhandar in Jaipur. As a social reformer he raised voice against child marriage and unequal marriages, and in favour of widow remarriage. Welfare of the underprivileged, including Harijan upliftment, was also an important area of his social work.
It is to be noted that ‘Bhattarak Ji Ki Nasiya’ is not merely a building, but a symbol of the community’s pride, faith and cultural heritage. The structure was originally built in 2009. Late Shri Karpurchand Patni had dedicated his life to society and the institution as a founding member of Digambar Jain Atishay Kshetra Shri Mahavir Ji. Following him, his son Shri Subhadra Kumar Patni played a key role in the institution’s development. Today, the next generation of the Patni family continues to uphold this legacy with the same dedication.
