Jaipur, Former Union Minister and renowned animal rights activist, Smt. Maneka Gandhi, visited Manipal University today, on constitution Day , to address law students on the critical issues of animal cruelty and welfare.
The event, organized by the University’s School of Law, drew a packed audience of students, faculty members, and animal welfare enthusiasts. Under the guidance of Faculty Coordinator Dr. Ashu Maharshi and supported by Student Coordinator Vanshika Saraf and Aadesh Jain. Smt. Gandhi, known for her tireless advocacy for animal rights, delivered a powerful and thought-provoking lecture that highlighted the need for stricter laws and greater awareness to prevent animal cruelty. “Animals are not just creatures, they are sentient beings that feel pain, joy, and fear just like us,” Smt. Gandhi emphasized. “It is our responsibility to protect them from cruelty and ensure their welfare.
“During her address, Smt. Gandhi also shared her experiences as an animal rights activist and highlighted the progress made in recent years to strengthen animal welfare laws in India. She also encouraged the students to take up the cause of animal welfare and work towards creating a more compassionate society. The event concluded with a Q&A session, where students posed thoughtful questions to Smt. Gandhi on various aspects of animal welfare and the law.
