
Pratibha Nikhar Diwas was celebrated under the one-month Cultural Heritage Training Camp being held at the City Palace. On this occasion, the participants demonstrated various arts learned during the last days of the camp. HH Maharaja Lakshyaraj Prakash of Sirmaur and Princess Gauravi Kumari of Jaipur were present at the program. They also interacted with the participants while observing the training camp. The camp has been organized by Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum Trust in collaboration with ‘Rangreet’, a representative institution of traditional arts, and ‘Saraswati Kala Kendra’. The closing ceremony of the camp will be held on June 20.
During this, Princess Gauravi Kumari, along with the participants, not only understood the nuances and techniques of the endangered ‘Thikri’ art, but also created a beautiful flower shape from glass pieces herself. At the same time, HH Maharaja Lakshyaraj Prakash got in-depth information about the traditional fresco (Araish) art and also experienced the nuances of art by working on the painting himself. On this occasion, they specially praised the participants and said that in this camp, participants of different age groups have shown keen interest in learning traditional and endangered Indian arts, which is highly commendable. He also appreciated the important contribution of the trainers in the camp; due to whose guidance and hard work the participants have been able to understand and learn the nuances of these arts.
The coordinator of the camp and OSD, Art and Culture, City Palace, painter Ramu Ramdev said that through this platform, budding artists have got a golden opportunity to connect with our rich cultural heritage and to preserve and promote traditional arts. He said that during the camp, the participants have been provided practical training by renowned art experts in various traditional art forms.
It is worth mentioning that during the camp, the nuances of ‘traditional painting’ in Dhundhar style have been taught by Ramu Ramdev, Babulal Bharodia, Shyamu Ramdev, Lakshmi Narayan Kumawat and Yamini Ramdev. Dr. Nathulal Verma has given training in ‘Ala Gila and Araish’ (Fresco). Whereas ‘Dhrupad’ of Jaipur Gharana has been taught by Dr. Madhubhatt Tailang and ‘Kathak and Folk Dance’ of Jaipur Gharana has been taught by Dr. Jyoti Bharti Goswami. Training of ‘Flute’ has been provided by R.D. Gaur. Similarly, training in ‘Calligraphy’ and ‘Portrait’ in Hindi and English has been given under the guidance of Lalit Sharma. Knowledge of ‘Vedic Astrology’ has been imparted by Dr. Brajmohan Khatri and Shankar Lal Kumawat and Badri Narayan Kumawat have made the nuances of ‘Thikri’ (Mirror Work) art known.
