Cultural Heritage Training Camp concludes at City Palace Jaipur

The month-long Cultural Heritage Training Camp at City Palace Jaipur concluded with great enthusiasm and celebration. At the closing ceremony, participants captivated the audience with mesmerizing performances of traditional art forms such as Dhrupad, Kathak from the Jaipur Gharana, Rajasthani folk dance, and flute recitals. The exhibition featuring ancient techniques like Ala Gila, Araish (fresco), Thikri art, and traditional paintings created by the participants during the camp also received much appreciation from visitors. Additionally, participants gained knowledge of Vedic astrology during the month-long camp.

The camp was organized by the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum Trust in collaboration with Rangreet, an organization representing traditional arts, and Saraswati Kala Kendra.

On this occasion, Rama Dutt, Executive Trustee of the MSMS II Museum, was present. She felicitated all trainers with garlands and certificates. The training camp was coordinated by Ramu Ramdev, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) for Arts & Culture at City Palace. He shared that this annual initiative, held under the aegis of the erstwhile royal family, aims to connect the younger generation with India’s rich cultural heritage and to preserve and promote traditional arts. This year, over 200 participants took part actively in the camp.

The ceremony began with the lighting of a lamp before the idol of Goddess Saraswati. The program commenced with a soulful Dhrupad recital under the guidance of Dr. Madhu Bhatt Tailang, in which participants sang Vedic chants with deep emotion. This was followed by a flute performance under the guidance of Shri R.D. Gaur. The grand finale featured graceful Kathak from the Jaipur Gharana and Ghoomar dances directed by Dr. Jyoti Bharati Goswami, where girls from different age groups showcased their talents with great enthusiasm.

During the camp, participants were introduced to the nuances of the Dhundhar style of traditional painting. The training was conducted under the mentorship of Ramu Ramdev, Babulal Marothiya, Shyamu Ramdev, Lakshmi Narayan Kumawat, and Yamini Ramdev. Dr. Nathulal Verma provided in-depth training on Ala Gila and Araish (fresco techniques). Lalit Sharma conducted workshops on calligraphy and portrait art in both Hindi and English. Participants were introduced to Vedic astrology by Dr. Brajmohan Khatri, while Shankar Lal Kumawat and Badri Narayan Kumawat taught the intricacies of Thikri (mirror work) art.

The program concluded with the distribution of certificates to all participants.
