Actor Rajit Kapur to Conduct a Special Masterclass at Rajasthan International Film Festival (RIFF) 2026 “Between Thought and Performance: The Art of Becoming”
Screening of Short Films Featuring Rajit Kapur Also Scheduled; Actor to Be Present


The theme of RIFF 2026 is “Cinemasthan – Your Lens, Our Rajasthan.” This edition will also mark over a decade of RIFF’s successful journey in promoting cinema in Rajasthan.
As part of its 12th edition, RIFF 2026 is set to host a special and inspiring masterclass for cinema lovers and young artists. The masterclass will be conducted by renowned Indian theatre, film, and television actor Rajit Kapur.
Titled “Between Thought and Performance: The Art of Becoming”, the masterclass will focus on the subtle and intricate process of acting, where ideas, emotions, and expression come together to create a powerful performance. Drawing from his decades-long experience, Rajit Kapur will share insights on acting preparation, character development, understanding dialogue, the difference between stage and camera acting, and the inner world of an actor.
This masterclass will be especially beneficial for emerging actors, theatre students, film students, and young cinema enthusiasts. Participants will also have the opportunity to interact directly with Rajit Kapur, ask questions, and gain first-hand understanding of the finer nuances of acting.
Rajit Kapur is one of the most respected and accomplished figures in Indian theatre, cinema, and television. He is best known for portraying Mahatma Gandhi in the film The Making of the Mahatma (1996), for which he received the National Film Award for Best Actor. His notable performances also include the role of Unni in the Malayalam film Agnisakshi and the iconic fictional detective Byomkesh Bakshi in the popular Doordarshan television series directed by Basu Chatterjee. He began his film career with Suraj Ka Satvan Ghoda (1992), directed by Shyam Benegal.

The Opening Ceremony of the 12th Rajasthan International Film Festival 2026 will take place on 31st Jan 2026 at Miraj Cinemas, Bluecity Mall, Circuit House Road, Jodhpur, Thereafter Film screenings, Open Forums, Talk Shows , Workshop , Exhibition , Viewing Room Black Box in RIFF Film Market and much more will be held from 31 Jan. to 4 Feb 2026 at Miraj Cinemas, Bluecity Mall, Circuit House Road, Jodhpur and The grand event of RIFF Closing Ceremony and The RIFF Award Night 2026 will be held on 4 February 2026, at the Jaipol, Mehrangarh Fort Supported by Mehrangarh Museum Trust, Jodhpur.”
