THE 4TH EDITION OF THE PALACE MODEL UNITED NATIONS MUN’26 COMMENCED AT CITY PALACE

Jaipur, The 4th edition of The Palace Model United Nations MUN’26 commenced with a grand opening ceremony held at Pritam Chowk, City Palace, Jaipur. The ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, Dr. Nidhi Raisinghani, Head of the Department of European Languages, Literature and Cultural Studies at the University of Rajasthan, and the Guest of Honour, Mr. Pawan Solanki, a seasoned overseas education expert. The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a captivating sitar recital and a graceful dance performance showcasing Rajasthan’s rich culture and heritage.

Ms. Urvashi Warman, Principal of The Palace School, formally welcomed the dignitaries and led them on a visit to the various committee sessions. The distinguished guests interacted with students and observed deliberations across all eight committees, appreciating the participants’ enthusiasm and depth of research. Centred around the theme “Heritage, History, and Humanity,” the conference was formally declared open by Himanshi Maheshwari, Secretary General 2026, marking the beginning of two days of dynamic deliberations.

The conference featured a diverse range of committees addressing pressing global and national issues. The UNGA DISEC deliberated on global instability and peace-building, while the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly focused on the rising concerns of self-harm and mental health among teenagers. The Chamber of Princes simulated debates on the signing of the Treaty of Accession and the autonomy of princely states during India’s transition to independence.

Committees such as UNHRC examined the balance between digital surveillance and fundamental human rights, while the IPU highlighted the importance of women’s participation in legislative frameworks. The BCCI committee explored team auctions through a Mixed Premier League simulation.

Adding a dynamic and entrepreneurial dimension, the Shark Tank committee engaged participants in pitching ideas, funding, and financial decision-making, while the International Press (IP) brought together journalists, photographers, and caricaturists to document and analyse proceedings.

The opening ceremony set an inspiring tone for the conference, reflecting the spirit of collaboration, critical thinking, and intellectual exchange among young delegates.
