Jaipur: Jaipur’s royal heritage was magnificently showcased at the Met Gala 2026, the world’s most prestigious fashion event, held in New York . His Highness Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh of Jaipur made a striking red carpet debut, dressed in an ensemble adorned with exquisite brooches and buttons designed by the renowned jewellery brand ‘Raniwala 1881’. His regal ensemble featured specially designed elephant brooch, fish brooch, and heritage buttons, lending his look a refined, elegant, and distinctly royal appeal. The jewellery beautifully blended traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design sensibilities. Accompanying him on the red carpet was his sister, Princess Gauravi Kumari.
On this occasion, Co-founder and Creative Director of Jaipur’s esteemed jewellery brand ‘Raniwala 1881’, Abhishek Raniwala, expressed his delight at seeing His Highness Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh wearing their brand’s brooches and buttons at a global platform. He further elaborated that the elephant brooch, inspired by the royal symbol ‘Gajaraj’, represents grandeur and regal tradition. At its center lies a precious tourmaline, encircled by diamonds and softened with delicate freshwater pearls, creating a balance of strength and grace. The fish brooch, inspired by the Sanskrit symbol ‘Matsya’, signifies life, progress, and prosperity. Crafted with deep-toned rubies, emerald detailing, and traditional ‘polki’ work, the design reflects depth and the continuous flow of life.
Meanwhile, the handcrafted heritage buttons featured in his attire draw inspiration from the spherical form of the earth, symbolizing unity and balance. Rooted in Jaipur’s traditional ‘jadau’ craftsmanship, this design connects to the rich legacy of Johari Bazaar, which flourished under the vision of Sawai Jai Singh II. This artistry stands as a testament to royal patronage and generations of enduring craftsmanship.
