13-Year-Old Navika Agrawal Launches Her Debut Book “The Mapmaker’s Heart” in Jaipur

Jaipur, In a proud and inspiring moment for the city, 13-year-old Navika Agrawal from Jaipur launched her debut book “The Mapmaker’s Heart” at a dignified ceremony . The event was graced by distinguished guests including author Laxmi Sharma, Anshu Harsh, Yashika Jain, and architect Dhruv Gupta, who congratulated Navika on her remarkable achievement and wished her a bright future ahead.
Navika has nurtured a deep love for books since early childhood. She shares that reading allows her to explore new worlds, while her inspiration often comes from quiet moments, music, and everyday experiences. “The Mapmaker’s Heart” is her first novel,a sensitive and engaging story centered around courage, loss, and the power of imagination. Through her writing, Navika hopes to convey that even in the darkest moments of life, a small ray of hope and magic always exists.
The story follows Leo Dawson, a young boy who discovers a mysterious map in his school library. This map leads him into a wondrous world of “impossible places,” where rivers flow backwards, cities float in the sky, and fears take tangible forms. Alongside his newfound friends Asha, Quinn, and Jax, Leo embarks on a thrilling journey to recover the scattered pieces of the map before a powerful cartographer alters reality itself. Through this adventure, he learns that courage, friendship, and imagination are stronger than fear and that the greatest maps are the ones drawn from the heart.
Speaking on the occasion, author Laxmi Sharma described the novella as a powerful metaphor that blends a thrilling fantasy journey with themes of hope, balance, and courage. She praised Navika’s command over language and her vivid imagination, noting that the work reinforces the idea that “impossible” is not a place, but a choice.
Architect Dhruv Gupta highlighted the courage it takes to write a novel at such a young age. He remarked that while many children today are engaged in sports or mobile devices, Navika has set herself apart through her passion and creativity, proving that it is not age but vision and dedication that define success.
Anshu Harsh, in his address, called Navika’s imagination extraordinary for her age. He expressed confidence that her writing has the potential to become a strong voice in the literary world, emphasizing that writing a novel at this stage reflects not just talent, but also discipline, courage, and commitment.
Author and jewellery designer Yashika Jain shared that the occasion was particularly special for her. She recalled how Navika had attended her book launch a year ago and drew inspiration from it, and today, she stands as a published author herself. She added that young writers like Navika reaffirm the belief that today’s generation possesses immense creative potential and the ability to express their ideas meaningfully.
During the event, Navika mentioned that this is her first book, and her passion for reading has led her to read nearly 85 books in a year, spanning biographies, literature, and various genres. Her favorite author is Chitra Banerjee, and she finds particular inspiration in “The Diary of a Young Girl.” These influences played a significant role in shaping her journey as a writer and bringing her debut book to life.
