Smt. Diya Kumari (Deputy Chief Minister, Rajasthan) met with two bright students from Jaipur, Ved Rathi and Arya Rathi, and congratulated them on their international achievement.
The two students recently returned from world-renowned CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) in Switzerland after successfully completing an intense high-profile innovative technology driven project. The project “Cloud Chamber” aimed to make the invisible field of particle physics visible using the combined concepts of engineering and scientific principles (AI/ML Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Open Source Mathematical Algorithms and Statistical Models, Design and Architecture) implementing at a global scale. Currently, both students are pursuing their Engineering in Computer Science in a reputed college.
The project was conceived by a team of six talented Indian students: Ved, Arya, Suchir, Samyak, Pragya and Sushrut. These students were selected from a cohort of international students after an intense global competition and interview.
On this occasion, Princess Diya Kumari commended on their excellent achievement. She said “ it is a proud moment for Rajasthan that our students are excelling at the international level at a world-renowned and prestigious institution like CERN. Students are the foundation of India’s progress, and that her blessings are always with these talented students. This team’s achievement is a matter of pride for Rajasthan and the entire country and such hands-on practical industry driven projects often skill our students faster than classroom education and textbooks. There is another important dimension to the students journey. They should not be seen solely as beneficiaries of this project; they can also become its designers, mentors and ambassadors to other students and maybe even to industries. Smt Diya Kumari said that our business leaders and corporate institutions should come forward and provide a platform (start-up funding opportunities, mentorship programs and incubators) to bright students such as Ved and Arya which will benefit both the business community and society and will also encourage and inspire our young students/generations and their parents to, think global, be innovative and pursue their interests in the latest technology. I would be delighted to support any such start-up funding platform provided by business leaders and institutions to these bright students”
Commending on the students’ performance, Pieter Everaerts, Senior Physicist with the CMS Experiment at CERN said “We highly value the curiosity and professionalism of these young technology driven Indian students at CERN. They have consistently impressed us with their scientific competence, adaptability, collaborative spirit and designing new innovative solutions. It has been a pleasure to mentor such motivated students, whose dedication, hard work and strong work ethics speak volumes about their potential. Ultimately, scientific talent thrives wherever young people are provided with opportunity, trust, and supportive mentorship. We look forward to welcoming them again at CERN”
The initiative aims to bridge the gap between cutting-edge scientific research and classroom education by introducing practical, inquiry-based learning experiences for students The students experienced CERN’s collaborative innovative technology environment, interacted with senior management and engineers and it also highlighted to them the importance of teamwork, precision, perseverance and problem-solving approach.
Reflecting on their experience, team member Ved Rathi said “Our internship at CERN is a remarkable experience through which we gained valuable exposure and skills while learning how to solve complex engineering and scientific challenges. Exploring the advanced technical labs and world famous LHC (Large Hadron Collider) at CERNs “Globe for Science and Innovation” strengthened our passion for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education. Furthermore, the insightful lectures and the intellectual discussions with senior leadership at CERN further inspired us to pursue innovation in the future. We would like to thank our mentors at CERN for guiding us throughout the project. Overall, it was an unforgettable experience that broadened both our knowledge and our perspective. We look forward to our next project at CERN”
